Foam Concentrates
Foam is used as a fire extinguishing medium on flammable and combustible liquids.
A fire fighting foam is simply a stable mass of small air-filled bubbles that has a lower density than oil, gasoline or water. When mixed in the correct proportions of water, foam concentrate and air, these components will form a homogeneous foam blanket.
Typical foam concentrations are 1%, 3% or 6% or a combination of 3% and 6%. Modern foam concentrates can be categorised into protein, fluoroprotein, FFFP, AFFF, high expansion, alcohol resistant AFFF, wetting agents and Class A concentrates.
Progard’s range of foam concentrates can be used successfully with either sea, fresh or brackish water. They are specifically formulated to provide maximum fire fighting capabilities with the minimum impact on the environment and human exposure. These concentrates are also readily biodegradable both in the natural environment and in sewage treatment facilities.
Depending on the concentrate type, Progard foam concentrates are designed for use with fixed and portable proportioning equipment such as eductors, inline balanced pressure and pump pressure proportioning skids, bladder tanks, handlines and air-aspirating nozzles with fixed self-educting tubes and foam discharging devices such as foam chambers, air-aspirating and non air-aspirating sprinklers, handline nozzles, monitors, foam makers, high expansion foam generators and high back pressure foam generators.
